City temples and Wat Doi Suthep (CNX 001)

Visit 3 of the city’s most well known temples, including the stunning and famous Wat Doi Suthep overlooking Chiang Mai. Firstly Wat Phra Singh, home to the very beautiful Lae Kham chapel, the site of the famous Phra Singh Buddha. You will also see excellent Buddhist history murals, and a library of folklore writings recorded on Saa paper (mulberry leaf parchment).

Then, Wat Suan Dok, which was originally a flower garden for the La Na Royal family. The gardens are still beautifully kept and the complex houses a Sri Lankan style chedi built in the 14th century. Now, the temple houses the School of Traditional Massage, considered the best of its type.

Finally, the famous Wat Doi Suthep: extremely popular amongst the Thais and the North’s best known temple, this magnificent temple is perched high above the city on the side of Doi Suthep mountain affording panoramic views. The temple is reached by a scenic mountain road and then a series of steps (an elevator is available also).

Golf options (CNX 008)

Track of the Tiger can arrange golf at any of the major golf courses in and around Chiang Mai, including Chiang Mai Lanna, Chiang Mai Highlands, Royal Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Green Valley, Mae Jo Golf Club, Chiang Mai Lamphun and the several ‘Gassan’ Clubs. Golf in other parts of Northern Thailand, including Chiang Rai, can also be organised.

All additional services can be arranged, including transfers, golf club hire, shoe hire, purchase of golf balls and tees etc. Please note that it is customary to tip your caddy in Thailand, with THB 200-300 generally being generous enough.

Mae On Cave and San Kamphaeng Hot Springs (CNX 005)

You will travel approximately 40 minutes east of Chiang Mai to Mae On Cave, where your guide will provide a short tour of the area. You will climb 300+steps and descend through some small gaps, but the cavernous interior is worth the effort. Following this you will travel to the landscaped hot springs, situated in a large area with gardens, seating areas and plumes of water that rise 20m in to the air. Highlights include buying fresh eggs and boiling them in the water to eat and also sitting by the man made stream and warming your feet in the running water, directed from the natural springs nearby. The closer you are to the source, the hotter it is, so please be careful! This tour is great all year round, but is highly recommended in the cooler season (Nov-Jan).
