Chiang Rai tours and activities

Introduction

Chiang Rai is primarily an agricultural centre at the confluence of the Maekok river and the main north/south road network connecting Thailand with Myanmar, and China to the north.

It is a slow moving town, surrounded by mountains that are home to most of the ethnic minority Hill Tribe population of northern Thailand.

The pace of life is very relaxed and the people are friendly but shy, not as used to tourists as those in Chiang Mai

The city has an airport allowing connections to Bangkok, and is a popular overnight stop with those visiting the attractions of the Golden Triangle and the Mekong River.
